Sermon: “Palm Sunday… a step toward Justice” April 9,2017
Scripture: Psalm 118: 1-2, 19-21; Matthew 21: 1-11
Today during the sermon Pastor Williams read Psalm 85: 10-11 “Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; justice and peace will kiss each other. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground and justice will look down from the sky.”. I think this is beautiful. I would venture to guess that most people don’t think of theses concepts (love, faithfulness, justice, and peace) as all being a part of each other. I really appreciate thinking of justice as healing as opposed to punishment. The world today seems so divided. We could all use a little healing. Maybe a good way to start this healing is by reaching out with compassion to people who feel alienated form society. They could be homeless, or hungry, diseased, or depraved, but action can be taken. Starting with praying for them and praying God walk’s with us as we try to make a difference in someone’s life. Then take it a step farther and act. As Jesus stated in the Gospel of Mark Chapter 2, He did not come to minister to those who are well but those who need healing.
